Nestled in the Kitzbühl Alps in Austria, the region of St. Johann in Tirol is a paradise for cyclists and mountain bikers alike. Whether you’re looking for challenging trails or gentle rides for the whole family, you’ll find what you’re looking for here. Between the Kitzbüheler Horn and the Wilder Kaiser peaks, unique landscapes await. The scenery consists of beautiful contrasts – between rugged mountains and the wide, sunny valley basin. The Kitzbüheler Ache, Reither Ache and the Fieberbrunn Ache valleys join to form the Großache here.
You ride past picturesque farmhouses and impressive nature, with countless photo opportunities. When you’re ready for a break, you can cool off in one of the numerous idyllic swimming lakes or stop at a cosy alpine hut. The hosts are well-versed in catering to cyclists and ensure you have a relaxing and comfortable stay.
By the way, you don’t have to necessarily work hard or tire yourself out to enjoy the region around St. Johann in Tirol. During the summer, you can hop on one of the numerous mountain railways that take you into the beautiful mountains without using all your energy reserves to get there.
Outside of St. Johann in Tirol, you can ride the Harschbichl Trail, which winds its way down into the valley for an exhilarating 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) and climbs a whopping 900 metres (2,950 ft) in altitude. You can comfortably reach the start with the gondola.
There are four bike shops in town that will be happy to help you with any equipment problems. You can also rent gear here – from a comfortable touring bike to a sporty enduro bike or a high-quality e-bike.
