Fantastic views, rustic huts and exhilarating summits: welcome to the Lechtal Mountain Trail. Taking you along the incredible main ridge of the Lechtal Alps, this route is not for the faint-hearted. But, your adventure rewards with panoramic trails along narrow ridges over 6,500 feet (2,000) meters interspersed by gentle alpine pastures.

We have put together the eleven main stages for you in this Collection. You can choose between different route options to suit adapt the hike to your own level. Not including the ascent and descent route, there are nine many stages plus nine route variations between the Stuttgarter and Anhalter Hut. You can find more information about this, here: tirol.at/reisefuehrer/sport/wandern/wandertouren/a-lechtaler-hoehenweg

The mountain trail starts in the tranquil village Steeg in the Lechtal. The first stage takes you to the Lechtal Mountain Trail’s official start point at the Stuttgarter Hut, marking the first of a total of ten breathtaking overnight stops at lofty heights.

High in the sky, the trail leads from the Stuttgarter Hut to the most impressive peaks of the Lechtal Alps – the 2,635 meter-high Großbergspitze. Here, you can enjoy an incredible 360-degree panorama before returning back to earth via gentle meadows and rippling streams in the idyllic Parseier Valley. Along the way, you can cool off in picturesque mountain lakes such as the Steinsee, a deep blue lake reflecting the dramatic mountain scenery.

As the route is a high-alpine trail, you should have alpine experience, a strong fitness level and excellent surefootedness to take on this adventure. The Roßkarscharte, which requires ropes, and the south-eastern crossing of the Vorderseespritze are especially challenging. You should also pay close attention to the snow conditions as you may encounter large snow fields at high altitudes, even in summer. Main season is from July till the end of September. Along the route, you can relax and warm up at the cozy alpine huts. Like the other Great Walks, the Lechtaler Mountain Trail allows you to dive into deserted mountain landscapes and leave everyday life behind you.

The Lechtal High Trail is one of the six most beautiful long-distance hiking trails in Tyrol, the so-called ‘Great Walks’. All routes promise you three things: escape from your everyday, beautiful alpine landscapes and real adventure. As well as the Lechtal Mountain Trail, the Tyrolean hiking trail elites include the Berlin High Trail, Eagle Walk, the Stubai High Trail and the Inntal High Trail.
