An active rest – cycling at the Geltinger Bay on the Baltic Sea

Far in the north, between the Flensburg Fjord, the Baltic Sea and the Schlei Fjord inlet, lie unspoilt coastlines, gentle sandy beaches and charming nature. Here, you also find the Geltinger Bay between the beautiful landscape of Ostangeln and the Geltinger Birk Nature Reserve. The rural scenes here are exhilarating – a feast for your senses at any time of year. In spring, expect yellow rape fields, buzzing bees and lush green meadows where Angeliter cattle graze. In summer, the wheat fields are golden and the air shimmers in the heat above the beaches. During the winter months, the crisp Baltic Sea air drifts over frosty landscapes.
We’ve put together eight varied and family-friendly cycling Tours for you in this Collection. From leisurely loops that are just under 8 kilometres (5 mi) to longer Tours of 33 kilometres (20.5 mi), we’ve included a bit of everything. The crowning glory of a beautiful panoramic Tour is the view from the Bismarck Tower. You can also learn about the region’s rich history on a Tour past old manor houses and estates. The Geltinger Birk Nature Reserve offers untouched nature and pure idyll as you ride to Guly-Thing, a Nordic meeting place that has been recreated true to style. All of the Tours have lots in common – peaceful scenery, charming nature and welcoming towns dotted along the bike paths.
Don't miss the chance to indulge in regional specialties such as freshly caught fish or hot Angler Muck, a national alcoholic drink traditionally drunk by fishermen, in one of the cosy inns. You can finish your day overlooking the enchanting landscapes of the Baltic Sea, perhaps even with a fire crackling in the background – a wonderful atmosphere and fitting end.

You are very close to the sea on sometimes tiny paths. The round begins on the beach, right at the mouth of the Lippingau.
