If you ride your bike along the Mulde, you will embark on a journey through untouched nature and through the past. Mighty fortresses, fairy-tale castles and medieval towns line your path as you cycle the Mulderadweg through the hilly landscape of the Vogtland and the Ore Mountains and along the countless river bends through the floodplains.

But now back to the cycle path: The Mulde consists of two arms which flow together in Sermuth and become the United Mulde. The Mulder Cycle Path therefore has the shape of a Y – you can cycle all three parts of it in five stages. The Freiberger Mulde rises in the Bohemian Ore Mountains and flows over Freiberg and Döbeln to Sermuth. This part of the Mulder Cycle Path is initially a bit hilly and later becomes flatter. The cycle path along the Zwickauer Mulde begins in Schöneck, the highest town of the Vogtland, and leads over Zwickau and Glauchau to Sermuth. This section is a bit more demanding as you cycle up and down in the deep valley, sometimes high above the young, babbling Zwickauer Mulde.

From the unification of the Mulde in Sermuth, the landscape changes. Here, you leave the hills behind you and plunge into the flat meadow landscape of the Muldeschleifen, which you cross again and again on your way to the mouth of the Elbe at Dessau-Roßlau.

Depending on the section, the Mulder Cycle Path is therefore ideal for beginners, families, and experts. There is something for everyone, not just for nature lovers. Culturally, the region is surprisingly rich and the lovingly restored medieval towns are the perfect place to spend a few hours. So far, the cycle path is still an insider tip so you can enjoy long distances away from hustle and bustle. Nevertheless, the existing infrastructure is well developed and you will find overnight accommodation in all stages. More information on the Mulder Cycle Path can also be found on the Mulder Cycle Path flyer, which gives you discounted admission for some facilities. And, if you visit at least four places mentioned in the flyer, you even get a small present. Simply have it stamped on site and send the flyer at the end.
