Almost uninhabited, but with wonderful wildlife, romantic lakes and sand between the toes, the Hohe Mark Nature Park is rich in variety and beauty. The green lung of Germany’s Westphalia region is surrounded by the Ruhr metropolis, Münsterland and the Lower Rhine region. It is criss-crossed by hundreds of kilometres of unique cycle paths.
With highlights such as an island castle in the middle of the water, dreamlike gardens, a 1,500-year-old oak tree and abundant culture, the cycle paths in the western Hohe Mark take you out of your everyday life in the city and into another world. To really switch off during an excursion into this world, we have selected the most beautiful cycling day Tours in the nature park.
On the day Tours in the western part of the Hohe Mark, the lively small-town flair is not neglected either. Towns and villages such as Bocholt, Borken and Raesfeld welcome visitors and treat you to charming town centres, good restaurants and cosy cafés.
The rides range in length from 17 to 70 kilometres (11-44 mi), allowing you to choose a relaxed, short Tour by bike or a longer discovery Tour. All five circular routes can be reached either via a nearby train station or other public transport. Parking spaces are also available at each starting point. Information on the bus and rail network can be found here: bus-und-bahn-im-muensterland.de.

With a gradient of only 40 meters and mostly paved paths, the cross-border commuter tour around the small, romantic town of Isselburg offers the right conditions for an excursion with the whole family. After you have arrived in Isselburg, you first have a look at the unique historic town hall in the Anholt district. From the city of 11,000 souls, the relaxed bike path will take you along the Issel to the fairytale-like Huis Landfort.
The small Münsterland town of Raesfeld is your starting and ending point today. On your almost 32-kilometer bike tour, you start at one of the most famous sights in the Hohe Mark: the Raesfeld moated castle. You should definitely plan a little more time for the castle and take a leisurely look at the Renaissance garden, the newly designed castle park, the St. Sebastian castle chapel and the museum.
