This Collection of adventuresome Tours are a curated selection of routes, inspired by the short stories in my book: Bedtime Adventure Stories for Grown Ups.

The Tours are a mix of adventures big and small. Some of them can be done in a few hours, others may take days - but each one has something unique to offer. They include hiking up Canadian mountains in winter, rollerblading around Amsterdam (in fancy dress), biting off more than I could chew as a novice mountain biker on the South Downs Way and to short overnight escapes to cycle or hike to the top of a hill and sleep under the stars.

I've chosen these in particular because the scenery is spectacular and the trails are easy to find and follow, whether you're already in the area or want to make it a destination.

As the world comes out of lockdown and we can finally begin to make travel plans again - I hope that these Tours will get your adventure juices flowing. That they'll reassure you that all that stands between you and your next great adventure is throwing some things on a bike or in a backpack and heading out the front door.

Originally, my friend Lydia and I set out to ride all 100 miles (160 km) of the South Downs Way over two days, but I'll be honest up front and say... we didn't make it. That's largely thanks to massively overestimating our speed and ability (I do this often) and Lydia's bike breaking on day two (just

This hike and camp out was about making the most of a late summer evening, with a group of adventuresome girlfriends. We were out to remind ourselves that adventures don’t always have to be grand journeys to far-flung places. Adventure is more about mindset than where in the world you are, after all

I'd spent the weekend locked away in a Gloucester office, editing a book and when I shut my laptop down, I knew I needed to ESCAPE! To head off on a solitary bike ride to clear my head and sleep in my bivvy on top of a mountain.

My boyfriend Jamie and I were on a 5,000-mile (8,000 km) road trip across Canada (IN WINTER!) when we decided that it was high time to take a day off from driving and explore a National Park we were passing in Newfoundland, called Gros Mourne.

Early the following morning we trundled down a gravel track

This Tour is about that time my friend Jo and I attempted to rollerblade 100 miles (160 km) around Amsterdam... in ‘80s clothing.

Largely because we remembered one night (while drinking wine) that rollerblading was really good fun when we were kids. So we thought 'Hey... why did we ever stop rollerblading
