When it comes to family hikes, the Alpbachtal is probably the undisputed winner. The Alpbachtal is a valley nestled in the middle of Tyrol in Austria under the watchful eye of the Rofan mountain range’s lofty peaks and the green mountains of the Kitzbühel Alps. This small, lovely region is a great place to experience wonderful moments together.

The Alpbachtal has a lot to offer. In the valley, traditional farms with their fields of flowers will fill you with joy. On the mountain, you can take a break at a traditional Alpine hut that serves regional culinary delicacies. From the unique village of Hildegard von Bingen, you’ll be followed by the pleasant scent of herbs and, in the valley of butterflies, you will be greeted by colourful fluttering wings.

With this Collection, we invite you to lace up your hiking boots and take your family out into the beautiful countryside. No matter what age your children are or how little fitness you’ve done recently, these 11 hikes are ideal for any hiking family. With different difficulty ratings, the hiking trails guarantee wonderful views far across the valleys and impressive mountain scenery.

Discover an exciting mountain ridge, plunge into the warm waters of a lake or conquer a peak such as the Wiedersbergerhorn or the Gratlspitz. If your family is up for a challenge, you can go on a multi-day hike and enjoy the fresh air and freedom in the Tyrolean mountains for several days. For little explorers, there are two spectacular adventure routes that allow them to playfully explore nature high up in the mountains.

Doesn’t this all sound very tempting for your next family holiday? Here’s another tip and a card – the Alpbachtal Card offers lots of extras such as summer cable cars, museum entrance, regional bus travel, swimming pools, activities, and much more. Don’t forget your card and get out into the healthy mountain air!

Here’s a small taste of what you can expect in the Alpbachtal:
