Alpine meadows, pine forests, beautiful views, high cliffs and cozy and authentic mountain hut backdropped by hills – hiking in the Kufsteinerland region of Austria is truly amazing.
Located just across the German border, this beautiful region is known for its Kaiser Mountains, with the Ellmauer Tor its highest point. However, the Kaisertal Valley – a natural line between the Zahmer Kaiser and the Wilder Kaiser– is not the only popular hiking area in Kufsteinerland. The hiking possibilities are also almost unlimited in the Thiersee Valley, where you find the Pendling, the region’s local mountain, that is recognizable from far away. Right on the border with Bavaria, you can also discover the hiking areas of Spitzstein and Kranzhorn.
If you want to make the most of everything Kufsteinerland has to offer, then the KufsteinerlandCard is perfect. With the card, you get discounts on many activities and some are even free. You can also travel on public transport in the region for free and access a number of mountain lifts. If you stay for more than one night in accommodation in Kufsteinerland, you automatically get given a card. For more information, see: kufstein.com/en/service-info/card.html
Travel to Austria could change at short notice because of covid-19. Because of this, Kufsteinerland gives you a Cancellation Guarantee, meaning you can cancel free of charge up to 48 hours, 7 days or 10 days before arrival (depending on your accommodation). If the borders close or a travel ban is enforced in the region, the guarantee will even apply to the day of arrival.
