Gentle trails, breathtaking views — welcome at the Hohe Salve in Tyrol
© Mirja Geh
The Hohe Salve is often considered to afford the most beautiful view in the whole of Tyrol, no mean feat in this mountainous region. The Hohe Salve belongs to the spectacular Kitzbühel Alps in western Austria. Lying between the Karwendel, Wilder Kaiser and Hohe Tauern mountain ranges, you will be amazed by the panorama from the summit.
In this Collection, we’ve selected six hiking routes for you on the Hohe Salve and the surrounding mountains. On each of the hikes, you can enjoy wonderful panoramas, gentle mountain slopes, traditional inns, and vast alpine meadows. Leisure hikers can take the gondola high into the mountains whilst hardy mountaineers can take on the long summit routes.
Following forest paths and mountain trails through the wild landscape, you will find tranquil nature in abundance here as you explore mountain lakes and the only ice cave in Tyrol.
The Hohe Salve is located between the towns of Kufstein, Worgl, and Kitzbühel. Just hop on a train, choose your favourite route, and set off to the mountains this summer.
KAT is the abbreviation for Kitzbüheler Alpen Trail. This dream long-distance hiking trail leads on the compact route in five stages and over a distance of 76 kilometers across the Kitzbühel Alps. Of course, you can also make the stages as individual day trips. A particularly beautiful stage leads from Hopfgarten over the Hohe Salve to Brixen im Thale. You will enjoy fantastic views at any time and along the way you will find several beautiful mountain inns. The hiking trails are all well developed and thus the mountain hike is considered medium difficult. If you are up or down too long, then you can easily shorten the distance slightly. Drive from Hopfgarten with the gondola to the middle station and start your hike there. At the end of the tour, you can also take the gondola down to Bressanone at the Filzalm.
