Located in the beautiful southwest of Germany, the Zollernalb is one of the highest parts of the Swabian Alb. It comes as no surprise that you can look forward to fun climbs here with breathtaking, distant views as far as the Alps and the Black Forest. The impressive Albtrauf, with its rugged rocks, divides the Zollernalb region into the lovely Alb foothills on one side and the grand Alb plateau with its typical juniper heaths on the other.
You can discover more than 200 kilometres (124 mi) of circular bike routes through the region. In this Collection, we present eight signposted Tours that are between 17 and 56 kilometres (10.5 and 34.8 mi) long. On most of the rides, you are accompanied by views of the region's landmark, the lofty Hohenzollern Castle.
One of these routes is the Kornbühl Tour on the plateau near the village of Melchingen. Thanks to its gentle inclines, this ride is perfect for little cyclists. They’ll be happy testing their skills, exploring ruins and meeting alpacas. Another kids’ favourite is the fairytale Zollern Tour which takes you to lots of magical places around the gorgeous Hohenzollern Castle.
Do you like to work up a sweat? The Hochalb Tour on the heights of Meßstetten and the Mammut Tour across the Zollernalb are perfect for this – nomen est omen!
Each of the eight Tours has its own special charm – you can choose one or try them all. Along the routes, there are plenty of charging stations so you can easily ride an e-bike. Last but not least, a cold refreshment stop is included on every Tour, of course!
On Sundays and public holidays, you can catch the train back to your starting point or to skip out a climb. You can take bikes on the buses and trains free of charge. If you plan to stay a little longer in the Zollernalb, the bett+bike accommodations are ready to take care of you and your bicycle’s wishes.
