In the south of Baden-Württemberg with the Schönbuch Nature Park to the north and the Swabian Alb to the southeast, lies the charming university town of Tübingen. To the west, the landscapes of the Heckengäu expand and, slightly beyond, you can see the treetops of the Black Forest on the horizon. The Früchtetrauf bike paths lead between these immensely varied landscapes. These routes take you on exciting themed Tours across fragrant orchards and through idyllic river valleys.
To experience the remarkable nature here to the fullest, Tübingen district has designed a series of themed bike rides that lead you through the picturesque scenery. We introduce you to 13 of these exciting cycling routes in this Collection.
The range of themes is as rich as the landscapes. You learn about energy, which has always been important to Tübingen, local agriculture and orchard habitats, after which the Früchtetrauf is named. Two of the Tours take you to spectacular castles and palaces whilst another bears witness to the region’s Second World War history. You learn a lot, all while giving your legs a good workout at the same time.
This Collection includes short routes across flat terrain that are ideal for families with children and easy-going cyclists. Some rides are more demanding and especially well-suited to e-bikers. You can charge your e-bike for free at numerous stations along the trails. As the Tours are both long and short, you can easily combine them to take in more of the region and include different themes.
The refreshment stops en route focus on one thing – local produce. The region’s food is especially tasty. A visit to a local brewery is also a must – Rottenburg is a hop-growing region.
You can comfortably travel to all Tours in an environmentally friendly way by train. So, what are you waiting for? Which theme would you like to learn about first?
