From the town of Münsingen in Bern, you cycle through untouched nature in the UNESCO biosphere reserve, gaze in wonder over magnificent landscapes, admire the Alb plateau’s unique flora and fauna, roll through lonely valleys, ride along winding rivers and discover towering castles and palaces. From the starting point at the Münsingen mobility center you cycle through the Heutal and on through the lonely Schandental. Only the railway line of the Swabian Alb Bahn runs here, otherwise you are far away from traffic.You pass Sondernach and reach the small village of Hütten. Here you meet the Schmiech and follow the river through the idyllic valley to Schmiechen. From here it is not far to the “Hohle Fels” cave, which is well worth a detour.
This shortened version of the previous tour takes you directly to the “Hohle Fels” cave. For the way back you change to the train.This e-bike tour also starts at the mobility center in Münsingen. Then you cycle into Schandental to Hütten. From here it goes through the idyllic Schmiechtal to the village of the same name and then on to Schelklingen.
On the Albhof tour you will pass signposted Albhöfen. These are farms in the Swabian Alb that give you an insight into their productions.The tour starts at the Mobility Center in Münsingen. From here you drive to the Fauserhöhe and then dash down into the Große Lautertal. You follow the river a little before you climb a slope on the other side of the valley that brings you to the Alb plateau.
At the start of the second stage of the Albhof Tour, you cycle along the Zwiefalter Ach to the Danube. Here you meet the Danube Cycle Path, which you follow to the mouth of the Große Lauter. Now you switch to the Lautertal cycle path. In Lauterbach you can make a stop at the biosphere information center. Then you cycle on through the natural Untere Lautertal and follow the playful loops of the river.
This shortened ALB-GOLD tour also starts at the mobility center in Münsingen. From here you drive over the Fauserhöhe, from which you can enjoy great views of the surrounding landscape, into the Great Lautertal. After a short distance along the Lauter, you will master an ascent to the heights of the Swabian Alb on the other side of the valley. It goes up and down to the highest point of the tour, the ant hill.
The starting point of the linen weaver tour is in Münsingen at the train station. The mobility center is also located here, where you can rent an e-bike. After you have left the city, cycle through the idyllic nature of the former military training area. Here you pass Gruorn and can then take a detour to the Hursch observation tower.
Bike Touring Highlight
The Münsingen Mobility Center is located directly at the train station of the Swabian Alb Railway (SAB). An innovative project on new mobility was inaugurated here in 2015. Together with the operator and the Bosch company, guests and residents can borrow a constantly maintained and up-to-date e-bike here.
