The Traufgänge, a network of premium hiking trails over the Swabian Alb, offer nature and culture in abundance. Mystical juniper heaths, spectacular rocky outcrops, breathtaking views and forests flooded with light – the region is a dream for hikers! You can look forward to unforgettable views from the Albtrauf ridge, from atop the Zeller Horn or Hangenden Stein peaks. There is also something for children here – little Traufgängerle. Located 85 kilometres (53 miles) south of Stuttgart, Albstadt is also known as the ‘Swabians’ penthouse’ as it is nestled on a high plateau. The natural beauty here is one of a kind!

In this Collection, we present eight incomparable circular Tours on the Swabian Alb around Albstadt which showcase the region’s vast diversity. Whether you hike the panoramic Tour overlooking the famous Zollernburg, ramble up to the Ochsenberg stopping at Heidensteinhöhle cave en route or wander through juniper heaths, you’ll always be treated to great views over Albstadt and the surrounding areas. All of the trails are excellent premium hikes and promise lots of walking fun.

Varying in length from 5 to 17 kilometres (3 to 10.5 miles), there’s something for everyone here. You never have to climb more than 520 metres (1,700 feet) in elevation gain. Most of the Tours are rated as intermediate, so you should have a good level of basic fitness and surefootedness to enjoy your hike to the full. You can easily reach Albstadt by train from Munich via Ulm and Simaringen or direct from Stuttgart. Albstadt has a range of overnight accommodation. This makes it easy to enjoy your holiday in the region and discover the hiking trails.
