Romantic vineyards, picturesque river valleys and quaint villages with historic charm – discovering the Franconian wine region in Germany by bike is a unique adventure. In this Collection, we present eight beautiful routes through this wine-growing region that are great fun on a bike! We’ve included everything from relaxed day rides to multi-day bike trips.

Surrounded by rolling hills, you can cycle for miles through beautiful vineyards with views across the Main and Tauber rivers. The routes take you to plenty of pretty wine towns en route where you can enjoy a break in the almost-Mediterranean atmosphere.
The so-called “Main Triangle” between the villages of Spessart, Rhön, Steigerwald, and Taubertal, the landscape is characterised by idyllic valleys and rich culture.

The route often follows idyllic cycle paths along the banks of the Main, Tauber and Wern rivers, or tracing a former railway line such as the Ochsenfurther Gau. These beautiful trails will take you through the countryside and into a romantic old town to finish. At the end of the stages, you can relax in Würzburg, Karlstadt or Schweinfurt.

You can easily reach the individual start and end points of the stages by train. If you ride the route as a multi-day adventure, you will always find plenty of accommodation. You can also plan your time in the Franconian wine region flexibility, and shorten and lengthen the stages as you wish. At the end of the day, a glass of wine is guaranteed regardless.
