Six full-throttle single trail day rides in and around Dresden

Mountain Biking Collection by Giant Deutschland

Hydration pack filled, bars packed and chain oiled? Wonderful, then you can set off on one of our single trail day Tours in one of the best biking areas in Germany: Dresden. Now that winter is finally subsiding and the sun is warming up the trails, it’s about time to finally head back into the forest. In this Collection, we’ve put together six trail-heavy MTB Tours that introduce you to Dresden’s diversity.

In addition to a fantastic network of home trails, two of the best bike parks outside of England are within an hour's drive of Dresden – the Trailcenter Rabenberg and the Bikepark Elstra. But the city's surrounding countryside has even more to offer: The region around Freital valley and the area along the Elbe Cycle Path offer many metres of altitude and trail descents for all skill levels.

To take full advantage of these epic trails, you can rent and test ride all of our mountain bikes, from light hardtails to full-throttle enduro bikes at the GIANT test centre in Dresden Neustadt. You can also buy body protection and other accessories there so that you’re ready to set off on an adventure. From the store, you can reach nature within a few minutes and, after your ride, you can relax in one of the cool pubs in this district of Dresden with a chilled drink.

We are certainly not telling Dresden bikers anything new when we describe the Dresdner Heide with its single trails as an absolute must-do in the area. Countless shapers and riders do a great job here to transform the backyard of the city into an MTB Mecca. This exit is definitely not for beginners as some of the trails are tough. We also recommend a fully for most trails in order to be able to fully enjoy the cool jumps and technical sections. Fortunately, the tour starts right at our GIANT test center, where our staff will give you good advice. The perfect bike for this tour: Giant Trance X E + or Liv Intrigue E +giant-bicycles.com/de/bikes-trance-x-eplus-2021

This exit is packed with flow, enchanted forest paths and beautiful views over the city. Relaxed flow trails alternate with one or the other crisp Enduro announcement and the demanding straken uphill over rough cobblestones is sometimes so steep that it is not a shame if you briefly descend and push here. Nevertheless, at the end of the tour you will do one thing above all: grin and look forward to this casual recreational tour. You start at our GIANT test center in Neustadt and cycle the first 15 kilometers either on forest roads or single trails up to the straken uphill. How good that you have already warmed up and can get this sweaty piece over with. Above you can expect good rest stops either at the viewpoint or at the Blechburg, where you can enjoy the view over Radebeul. Then the trails start: First, two more technical trails await you in Fiedlergrund, then you continue on forest flow trails through nature. On the A4 you can put your jumping skills to the test on the A4 trail of the same name (or simply cycle past it) before you cross the autobahn and dive into the eastern part of the Dresdner Heide. Here it is more relaxed on other forest trails before you leave the heath along the Prießnitz and are led back to the starting point. The perfect bike for this tour: Giant Stance E + or Liv Embolden E +giant-bicycles.com/de/bikes-stance-eplus-2021

This tour has it all: Not only the distance of 67.9 kilometers is pretty crisp without an e-bike, the 730 meters of altitude promise to make you sweat properly. On the other hand, you can look forward to a lot of trails on this exit to the house of the dead, which are sometimes flowing, sometimes steep and technical. It all starts at our GIANT test center in Neustadt. First you follow the Elbradweg before you turn off in the direction of Tännichtgrund, where a first relaxed flow trail passage awaits you. Shortly after the Neudeckmühle, which is perfect for a break, you continue on the Stonegarden Trail and a little later through the Schindergraben. Both trails are easy to ride, even if their names may not convey it.You return to the Elbradweg for a short while and then devote yourself to the more demanding uphills and downhills of the tour. The descent to the Rehbockschänke requires good brakes and the Elbleitenweg requires a head for heights and good balance. The final trail down to the Wolf's Gorge requires technical skills again. Then you can relax on the Elbradweg and end your tour with a well-deserved stop at the Gohliser Mühle. The perfect bike for this tour: Giant Trance X E + or Liv Intrigue E +giant-bicycles.com/de/bikes-trance-x-eplus-2021

This tour is a real kneebiter. Just over 1,000 meters in altitude and 57 kilometers are waiting to be conquered by you. You will also be challenged technically, especially on the Rockbrothers Trail. Even with an e-bike, this tour is not for beginners, but it rewards with a lot of downhill fun and beautiful views over Freital and the surrounding area. You start at our GIANT test center in Neustadt and cycle south to Freital. The first ascent to the Jochhöh and the subsequent Pesterwitz Trail are perfect for warming up: a little up, a little down, a little technical. The ascent to the Opitzer Höhe and the subsequent descent via the Förster-Claus-Weg are the prelude to the actual trail highlight of the tour: The Rockbrothers Trail is very exposed on the slope and requires a head for heights and balance. However, you will be rewarded for your courage with a lot of driving fun. After that it is mostly flowy, but also continues with crisp uphills. The descent from the Windberg is technically not completely undemanding, but definitely no comparison to the first third of the tour. The last few kilometers are then relaxed on asphalt back to Dresden, where you will certainly find a place in the Neustadt for your well-deserved after-work drink. The perfect bike for this tour: Giant Trance X E + or Liv Intrigue E +giant-bicycles.com/de/bikes-trance-x-eplus-2021

The Rabenberg Trail Center is the first trail center outside the United Kingdom to take over the structure of the bike parks there. Instead of the usual lift uphill runs here, you can cycle all the trails yourself. The Rabenberg Trail Center is not a downhill park, but rather made especially for cross-country and enduro bikers who love biting their calves as much as they love technical ones flowing descents. This round is definitely something for a whole day, during which you always take small breaks. With over 1,000 meters of altitude and a total of almost 45 kilometers, it is definitely not a small thing. But with this tour you get the most out of the trail center: technical tricks, adrenaline downhills, pure flow and fun trail uphills are definitely included. You can easily adapt the tour to your personal needs. On the website of the Trailcenter there are some tour suggestions depending on the level of ability and motivation: trailcenter-rabenberg.deThe perfect bike for this tour: Giant Stance E + or Liv Embolden E +giant-bicycles.com/de/bikes-stance-eplus-2021

On this relaxed half-day tour, you will explore the immediate vicinity of the Black Mountain Bikepark in Elstra (black-mountain-bikepark.de). If you are in the mood for a small regional expedition after half a day of trail beating in the park, this trip is the ideal addition. In addition to cool local trails, you can also expect a quiet country idyll and more than a beautiful view of the surroundings. You start at the bus stop in Rammenau and climb the first meters of altitude on the Hochstein via a beautiful single trail / forest road combination. The view up here is already worth a first breather before it goes downhill again on the slightly technical Hochsteintrail. The rest of the tour is also characterized by ups and downs through the landscape. Two more viewpoints are on the program and, as a small valley highlight, the Schneiders Steenloch, a pretty, small forest lake. The tour ends at the Barockschlösschen Rammenau, which is perfect for stretching your legs after a long day of mountain biking. The adjacent park invites you to take a walk and the castle restaurant serves you a well-deserved snack and drinks of all kinds. The perfect bike for this tour: Giant Stance E + or Liv Embolden E +giant-bicycles.com/de/bikes-stance-eplus-2021
