The Steigerwald, a range of forested hills in Bavaria in the south of Germany, offers picturesque vineyards and ancient forests. This nature park, known as the land of 1,000 ponds, is perfect to discover by bike. You will cycle through magnificent nature, sample Franconian cuisine, explore walled cities, and discover mighty castles and half-timbered houses on the way.

We have put together 11 routes in this Collection of varying levels of difficulty and with different themes. You can choose between relaxed cycle paths through gentle vineyards and challenging forest trails. If you want to experience Franconian hospitality, you have countless opportunities to stop for refreshments on the beer circular or the Bocksbeutel (a traditional wine bottle) loop. There are also many castles and ruins en route such as the impressive Weissenstein baroque castle.

On the TeichKulturRunde, you cycle through the land of 1,000 ponds, immersing yourself in the unique landscape. Or, if you like off-road and forest trails, then there are two cross-country routes. Thanks to the shaded forest, you can comfortably ride the Tours in summer too. When you get thirsty, traditional beer gardens and wine cellars are ready to help you quench your thirst. So, hop on your bike and start exploring the Steigerwald!
