Cycling the Tauber Valley in Germany – Incredible paths & scenery

Castles and palaces, magnificent nature and the clear waters of the Tauber River meandering through a lush green landscape – this is the backdrop for an adventure on one of Germany's most popular cycle paths. It’s the ‘Lovely Tauber Valley: The Classic’ (‘Liebliches Taubertal: Der Klassiker’) cycle route. Families with children will feel just as comfortable as ambitious touring cyclists on the well-maintained trail with its pleasantly flat gradients. Together, you can visit all kinds of sights along the way, combining history, adventure and tranquillity. Does life get much more beautiful than this?

The 100-kilometre (62 mi) cycle path takes you from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Wertheim am Main. In this Collection, we have divided the classic route into three daily stages, each ending in a place with plenty of amenities. This makes it easier for you to find refreshment and accommodation. Of course, you can plan your own stages from the full Tour. There are many warm, friendly and welcoming establishments in our region.

It’s not for nothing that the cycle path has been awarded the top rating of five stars by the ADFC five times in a row. This is the highest award that can be given to long-distance cycle routes, both nationally and internationally. Only two cycle paths in Germany and four in Europe can boast this rating. As a special treat, various sound stations with audio guides inform you about the Tauber landscape in an interesting and informative manner.
