Rolling hills, vast meadows, and thick forests – cycling along the River Tauber in the South of Germany is a wonderful adventure. The “Charming Tauber Valley – the Classic” cycling route leads you 62 miles (100 km) from Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria to Wertheim am Main in Baden-Württemberg. Along the way, you will visit ancient castles, monasteries, and quaint historic towns. With so much culture and landscapes to explore, this route is one of the most beautiful in the region. It was even awarded five stars by the German Federation of Cyclists (ADFC), making it only the second cycleway in Germany to hold the title.

In 2020, the cycleway celebrates its 40th anniversary and invites you along to join the fun. Thanks to the celebratory campaign “Aktion 10 x 4”, you can enjoy a 4% discount or a €4 voucher at 10 places en route.

In this Collection, we guide you along this beautiful cycle path in three stages varying in length from 18.6 - 25 miles (30 - 40 km). As the route follows the river, it is mostly flat and is therefore suitable for all abilities including families. If you want a bigger challenge, you can easily combine the stages together to complete the route in fewer days.

The start of your adventure in Rothenburg ob der Tauber is convenient to reach by train with regular connections from Munich, the German state capital of Bavaria.
