Tucked away in the Altmühltal Nature Park, one of Germany’s largest nature parks, lies swathes of unspoilt nature, the stunning Jura Plateau, countless historical sites and green valleys. The nature park is often considered to be the most beautiful area of Bavaria and is known as the region’s green heart. You’ll find fairytale castles, charming villages, rippling rivers and dreamy landscapes which are a dream to discover by bike.

The six varied routes in this Collection reveal the most beautiful corners of Franconia. We’ve included something for every ability: from long day tours to relaxed circulars. You’ll find many delightful places to stop to enjoy regional dishes in the romantic medieval market squares of the towns en route.

As all routes in this Collection are circular, you can choose where to begin your ride. You can comfortably arrive by train via Nuremberg or Munich. There are also direct bus connections between all major cities and towns in the region, such as Beilngries, Berching, Kinding or Dietfurt. From Kinding, Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, Treuchtlingen or Saal an der Donau, you also have access to the rail network.
