Disused railway lines, picturesque riverside paths, impressive industrial monuments and sweeping views from slagheaps that have returned to nature – the Ruhr region is developing into a cycling metropolis. Over 1,200 kilometres (745 mi) of signposted cycle ways run along its scenic bygone transport routes, so you can cycle safely away from traffic. Cycling here is great fun and shows you the backyards and gardens of the Ruhr region.

In this Collection, we’ve summarised the 15 thematic RevierRoutes that lead through the radrevier.ruhr for you. Whether it's a mine Tour, steelworks, slag heap or countryside ride – there's a suitable adventure for everyone.

The dense network of cycle paths leads you directly to the Ruhr region’s Highlights. You’ll discover imposing vestiges of an industrial past that’ll stay in your memory for years to come. The day rides start at bike-friendly businesses and you can take relaxing breaks at beer gardens along the way. It’s also easy to rent a bike from one of the many rental points so you can enjoy the region on two wheels even if you don’t bring your bike with you.
