From the Franconian Lake Distict’s glistening waters to enchanted forests, to Franconian Switzerland’s wild, rocky landscapes and to Franconian Wine Country’s brightly-colored vineyards – the region around Nuremberg has some wonderful hikes. The hilly landscapes will give nature lovers a reason to smile, whilst wine connoisseurs can enjoy the vineyards in the south. You can also discover the region’s diverse culture as you hike to magnificent monasteries, fairytale castles and weathered ruins.
On 12 multi-faceted hikes, you can experience the diversity of the Nuremberg region on foot. Take a trimaran across Lake Brombachsee, climb Nuremberg’s local mountain, relax at one of the refreshing swimming lakes and enjoy a freshly-tapped regional beer and excellent wine. The routes take you in all directions around Nuremberg, so you can choose which area you would like to explore.
As every start and end point can be reached easily by bus or train, you can leave your car at home. This also means you can enjoy a cool, hoppy beer or local wine after your hike. Cheers!
In order to ensure that all leisure-seekers reach their destination safely in the current corona crisis, the following points must be followed in the VGN public transport network at present:
• Wear a face mask in the means of transport.
• The opening hours of the customer centres are currently limited.
• Not all bus drivers do sell tickets. Please buy tickets in advance in the APP, at the ticket machines or in the online shop.
If everyone sticks to them, there is nothing to stop you enjoying your hike in the VGN!
