‘Let nature be nature’ – sounds like a great motto, doesn’t it? The Bavarian Forest National Park is guided by this principle. Here, nature is allowed to thrive. You can experience this first hand on a holiday in the region. Unspoiled forests, species-rich moorlands, romantic chasms, and magnificent views characterize this region along the Czech border. With so much to discover, it’s a paradise for hikers. To make sure you don’t miss anything, we present five particularly beautiful Tours through the Bavarian Forest in this Collection. Heike Ott, who runs Heike's House guesthouse, shows you her favorite Tours and also offers you a cozy roof over your head during your stay.
Haus Heike is located in the national park community of Neuschönau and is the ideal starting point for your trips in the Bavarian Forest. In the village, you find the informative Lusen National Park Center, an exciting treetop walk and a spacious outdoor enclosure with native and exotic animals. Nearby, the peaks of the Lusen, the Große Kanzel and the Siebensteinkopf rise above the dense forest. The Klosterfilz high moor offers you fantastic hiking fun on its boardwalks and a detour across the state border to the Czech Republic is also not far away.
The five hikes either start directly at Haus Heike or are only a short bus ride away. The Bavarian Forest National Park, which was the first national park in Germany, has a super infrastructure for hikers. Guests at Haus Heike even receive a National Park Card with GUTi ticket upon arrival. This allows you to use the buses and trains in the region free of charge so you can leave your car parked at your accommodation.
In Haus Heike, you can enjoy every freedom with a pinch of extra comfort. The three apartments are well equipped with everything you need after a long day in the fresh air. You can either cater for yourself or book a place for breakfast at the Landgasthof Euler in the village. The apartments are family-friendly and whether you need a stroller or a sled, your hostess will be happy to help you out. Near the house, there is also a swimming lake, where you can cool off after a long Tour in summer.
Dive into the dense forest of the Bavarian Forest National Park on your hikes and immerse yourself in the beautiful nature. Breathe the fresh forest air deep into your lungs, roam through pristine landscapes, enjoy fantastic views, and relax at a home away from home in the evening.
