Auf Schneeschuhen unterwegs im Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald

The varied and physically demanding tour leads through the easternmost part of the national park. In addition to the summit experience on the Siebensteinkopf, we can expect cultural and historical evidence of past life in and from the forest, such as the Reschbachklause and the Open Air Museum Finsterau. The face of the landscape today is shaped by natural dynamics: wind throws, snow breaks and bark beetles, but also the beaver are the designers of the national park forests and waters.

The moderate snowshoe tour leads through snow-covered winter forests north of Finsterau. The forest shows itself in all its facets with dense old stands as well as with bark beetle and wind-throwing areas. From the Wistlberg car park, you can walk to the renatured Moor Finsterauer Filz, continue to the Alte Klause, to the Finsterau open-air museum and back.

With snowshoes it is a very exhausting tour through the wintry national park forests around the mountain village of Waldhäuser. Passing the legendary Teufelsloch we go to the old Triftsanlage Martinsklause and on to the Glasarche on the southwest slope of the Lusen before we return to the starting point in Waldhäuser.

A summit crossing with a stop in the shelter, a wind-throwing area, a tree-free shaft and a relic of the jungle are lined up on this sporty snowshoe tour. Start and finish is at the entrance to Zwieslerwaldhaus, the highest point is reached with the summit of the Großer Falkenstein (1,315 m above sea level). On the way there is always pure national park nature to discover.

With snowshoes it goes from the hiking park Bayerisch Eisenstein towards Schwellhäusl. On the way, the Hans-Watzlik-Hain jungle area is fascinating with the largest fir in the Bavarian Forest and other huge old trees. The Schwellhäusl attracts visitors with Bavarian-Bohemian cuisine and is idyllically located on the Schmalzbachschwelle. The way back to Bayerisch Eisenstein leads over the Hochbergsattel and through wild national park forests.

With snowshoes you go on this varied, moderately difficult tour through snow-covered winter forests between Neuschönau and Hohenau. We are rewarded with the rock formations around the Ochsenriegel and clear mountain streams like the Seebach and the Sagwasser in the middle of wild forests with bizarre trees and a lot of dead wood.

You go through imposing rock formations and wild forest on the stony paths and over the stone steps of the circular path 'Haselhuhn' through the rocky hiking area in the Bavarian Forest National Park. On this short round trip you work up a sweat but are even more amazed - namely at the dynamics of an undisturbed forest in which growth and decay can be experienced.In winter there is no winter service on the 'Haselhuhn' circular trail, so the tour is also ideal for a snowshoe hike. You can only expect slightly longer walking times (approx. 1:45 h).

On this snowshoe tour, several small villages are hiked through. From Klingenbrunn train station it goes first to Althütte and on to Flanitzhütte, comfortable paths along the Flanitz and through the Flanitz level lead us back to Klingenbrunn train station.

The circular route 'Kreuzspinne' invites you to take a two-and-a-half-hour hike starting in Buchenau and, among other things, leads along the Pommerbach. On the way there are always beautiful views, for example of the Rachel.

In the immediate vicinity of Bayerisch Eisenstein we can experience wild national park forests on a hike on the circular path, Waldmaus' and enjoy the view from the Hochfels (855 m), among other things. in Bayerisch Eisenstein and the Great Arber (1,456 m).
