The BikeTrainTour Teuto-Senne takes you from the peace city of Osnabrück to the old imperial city of Paderborn in north-west Germany. The journey takes you through the southern side of the Teutoburg Forest, a range of low, forested hills, where you can enjoy unspoilt nature. You then ride down dreamlike avenues and past fairytale moated castles until you reach the unique landscapes of the River Senne, with the Ems Springs, the Moosheide nature reserve, and fragrant pine forests.
The BikeTrainTour Teuto-Senne winds its way from Osnabrück to Paderborn over 140 kilometres. In this Collection, I show you how to cycle this varied route in three stages, ranging in length from 40 to 60 kilometres (24.9 to 37 miles). You can comfortably arrive and leave by train. Deutsche Bahn local and long-distance trains run from the main station in Osnabrück and Paderborn.
On the way, you will never struggle to find accommodation or train stations. The BikeTrainTour aims to let you swap from your bike to the train at any point along the route. So, if the weather turns or if you only want to cycle a certain section, you can be very flexible and arrange the route to suit you.
The starting point of the BahnRadRoute Teuto-Senne is in Osnabrück. You can easily reach the City of Peace by public transport. Long-distance and local trains of Deutsche Bahn stop at the main station. With Flixtrain you can also get to Osnabrück as well as with Stoptrein from the Netherlands.The beautiful bike tour starts in the old town of Osnabrück. Through the city center you can reach the outskirts. From here you drive on a relatively flat route through picturesque fields and meadows.Soon you will reach the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest and it will be a bit hilly. Alternately surrounded by refreshing forests and a wonderfully open landscape, you cycle to Bad Iburg. In the city, it is worth taking a long break, during which you can visit the castle of the same name and have a leisurely break.With new energy you can ride on beautiful bike paths through the Teutoburg Forest. Surrounded by huge trees, you can enjoy the tranquility and uniqueness of untouched nature. Shortly before the goal, the forest clears and a pretty field and meadow landscape opens up in front of you. It accompanies you to the stage destination Bad Rothenfelde.In the health resort you can end the day in the health resort park, where you can inhale the healthy air of the graduation tower. There are various hotels and other accommodations available to you in the village, including a camp hotel. At the Dissen-Bad Rothenfelde train station you have a connection to the regional train to Osnabrück or Bielefeld.
Immediately behind Bad Rothenfelde you dive into a wonderful field and meadow landscape, which is decorated again and again by small pieces of forest. Before long, magnificent moated castles line up along the route and idyllic lakes invite you to linger.After almost half of the stage you will reach Steinhagen. In the village there are cozy places to stop for a break, such as ice cream parlors and restaurants, for a relaxing break. Then you cycle on refreshed and shortly afterwards pass the southern foothills of Bielefeld.In the further course you will reach the beautiful Senne. At Bielefeld you drive through the Senner dunes. Further south, an open landscape with fields and meadows welcomes you. Finally you turn east and drive into the magical Holter Forest, at the end of which is the Holte Castle. Here you will reach your milestone today.You can either spend the night next door in the Holter Schlosskrug or in the neighboring village of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock. Here you will also find a train station with a connection to the regional train towards Bielefeld and Paderborn.

On the last stage of the BahnRadRoute Teuto-Senne, you drive through the unique Senne landscape on a mostly flat route. To start off, you leave the Holter Forest and cycle past wide fields and meadows. You will soon reach the Emsquellen and the associated information center in the Moosheide nature reserve.After enjoying the enchanting landscapes in the Moosheide, you will reach Hövelhof about halfway along the stage. Here you can stop in comfortably and strengthen yourself.With new strength you cycle through the rural region. Wide fields and lush meadows, impressive avenues and romantic woods line your path. Finally you will reach the Lippesee. Here you can let your gaze wander over the water for a moment before you continue cycling.The further you roll, the more urban it becomes as you get closer to your goal. Before you reach Paderborn, you can still enjoy the beautiful Paderweg. Then you dive into the city, cross the city center and finally reach the train station.You can easily leave by public transport. From Paderborn main station you have a connection to the local and long-distance transport of Deutsche Bahn as well as to the Hanover S-Bahn network.
