30k gravel/xc Pentlands loopStarting in the heart of Edinburgh, this Tour proves two things: you can have fun at home and you don't need a car to reach the trails. The Tour begins with a relaxed warm-up through the streets of Edinburgh and into the southern outskirts of the city, reaching the greenery of Hillend Country Park. Next, you are tested by a steep climb, interrupted with a few fences where you have to dismount and carry your bike. The trail brings you to the top of the Hillends ski run the fastest way possible, which is where the fun really begins. The various trails and forest paths here are surrounded by such beautiful green nature that you will soon forget your ride through the city. You cycle a short, but very enjoyable, section through the countryside via a network of trails before pedalling along the Water of Leith back to the starting point – the perfect cool-down for your short workout.Dirty Reiver Scottish RegionalRidden in one go, this Tour on the edge of the Scottish Highlands is a long, challenging gravel bike adventure that will keep you on the road for a whole day. But, if that's too much for you, you can easily break it up into smaller rides. The ‘Southern Loop’, which is almost 33 kilometres (20.5 miles) long, takes you from the small village of Aberfoyle through the traffic-free Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and onto the shores of Loch Ard, one of the most picturesque lakes in Scotland. North of Aberfoyle, more stunning lakes await as you pass no less than six lochs, each beautiful in its own right. From the road, you don’t catch many glimpses of the water, but you can expect wide views from the remote gravel paths. You can easily shorten this ‘Northern Loop’ at various points to suit your timetable and fitness level.Tip:
Pack your bikepacking bags on your bike and make it an unforgettable overnight adventure!
