The Weser-Lippe Cycle Route winds its way 300 kilometres (186 miles) from the city of Bremen in the north of Germany to Paderborn. You cycle through wonderful flat landscapes, with wide meadows and colourful fields, which becomes hillier the further south you go. You ride through wild forests, enjoy unforgettable views, and visit Osnabrück, the peace city. The tour’s crowning glory in the breathtakingly beautiful Teutoburg Forest Egge Hills Nature Park.
In this Collection, I guide you along the Weser-Lippe Cycle Route in five stages. You can divide the stages to fit your timetable if you prefer. There are 23 train stations along the route so you can always hop on the train to shorten your adventure and only ride certain sections. In German, the route is called BahnRadRoute Weser-Lippe, the Wester-Lippe railway cycle route, for this reason.
The starting point in Bremen and the destination Paderborn are, of course, also easily accessible by both long-distance and local trains. In all stage destinations I selected for you, there are also stations, accommodation options, and refreshment facilities.
Riding the Weser-Lippe, you find mostly flat stretches on well-developed cycle paths that make for great riding. On the last stage, the Teutoburg Forest is a bit more action-packed, as you master challenging climbs and some gravel paths, but these are easy to ride on a trekking bike – they are wonderful, close-to-nature adventures that make the end of the Tour an absolute delight!
