By car you drive to the parking lot of the Brauneck mountain railway (approx. 60 km from Munich, travel time 1 hour). Alternatively, you can take the BOB (Bayerische Oberlandbahn) to Lenggries and from the train station take the 9564a bus to the Brauneckbahn.

After breakfast with mountain cheese from our own cheese dairy and delicious scrambled eggs, we pack our things and wait. On what? To better weather. Unfortunately it's already pouring rain again, but at 10:00 we can finally start hiking.

From the hut it goes steeply uphill on a very stony forest path

The hike is moderately difficult for children (sure-footedness and a head for heights are required). The path is exciting because it hardly runs on a forest path and the children have to practice surefootedness here and there. Part of the path runs along a narrow path along the slope, this is where attention

The way to the summit cross is not to be missed. The way to the descent via the Hochtrittalm is not signposted. Approx. 50 meters after the summit cross, it branches off to the right.

My tip: The Fellhorn at Straubinger Haus is definitely a summit on which you can experience a magnificent sunrise or sunset

From the Upper Firstalm we hiked to the pre-summit of the Brecherspitze. Up to this point, the tour is easy to do with children. We didn't hike any further, instead we quickly descended back to the Obere Firstalm so as not to get caught in the drifting snow (by the way, it's early May!)

Today our hut tour through the Stone Sea starts. With two children.

Note: a strenuous hike over partly challenging paths. Please only hike if you and your children are fit and sure-footed!

From the hotel in Berchtesgaden we walk to the bus that takes us to the Königssee. Ten minutes later, at 8:30 a.m

The weather outside the hut door is soupy. This milky variant, which together with the snow leads to zero visibility and little orientation.

Plan A: Sit out. The weather might get better. Plan B: Go ahead and see how it goes. Plan B was more popular and so we set off. After all, we haven't dragged our

Today is the last day of our 4-day hike and we descend to Weißbach bei Lofer. Before we start hiking, we hang out a little on the terrace.

Overnight stay in a hut at Priener Hütte Day 1

The time has come. Our first overnight stay in a hut in 2021 is ahead of us. Two nights at the Priener Hütte in the Chiemgau Alps.

The good thing: The weather is stable and sleeping bags are sufficient in the hut, which means surprisingly little luggage for

Overnight stay in the Priener Hütte Day 2 – From the ringing of cowlocks at breakfast, marmots and a nap in the afternoon.

The night was ugly. There wasn't even a real reason. The children don't sleep that well the first night in a strange environment, and somehow we adults don't either.

Overnight stay at Priener Hütte day 3

On our last day, we hike back to the parking lot. We are fast. It may be because of the really cool route or the fact that the packed bathing suits are waiting in the car - probably a mixture of both - but after almost 2.5 hours we are back at the car at half past

Overnight stay in a hut at the Falkenhütte Day 1

We are leaving for what will probably be our last overnight stay in a hut this summer. The inconsistent weather didn't make the decision easy for us, but we couldn't miss the sunny forecast for Saturday.

We never hike particularly steeply from the small

The Mahnkopf (2,094 m) is practically the “local mountain” of the Falkenhütte and can be reached in just one hour.

The view is truly breathtaking with a view of the Laliderer Spitze, down to the Kleiner Ahornboden and into the Bavarian foothills of the Alps.

The hike is relatively easy. The ascent to the

We hike along the mighty Laliderer walls, which are hidden in the clouds again, and take a last look back at the Falkenhütte.

Then it goes steadily downhill, it gets greener and greener around us and the houses of the Almdorf Eng come into view. A short

Very early this morning we lace our hiking boots for the last time. A long descent of 760 meters to the Alpe di Siusi awaits us.

The breathtaking view doesn't exactly make it easy for us to say goodbye. While we start hiking, the man runs quickly up Monte Pez, the highest peak of the Sciliar. It says

Today we have a short stage of just 5.5 kilometers ahead of us, so we take it easy. We sleep a relatively long time, have a leisurely breakfast and swap the layer of sunscreen for rain jackets.

After a steep ascent, we have reached the highest point of today's tour after just 2.2 km and thus also the
