The region of Vogtland in southwest Saxony showcases some of the finest nature in Germany. Here, you will find the Vogtland Panorama Trail, which stretches for 240 kilometres (149 miles) through the beautiful scenery. You can hike the 12 stage adventure in one go or in individual stages, to compose your very own nature’s symphony. In this Collection, you can be inspired by the 12 official stages which reveal the most spectacular nature and charming towns in the Vogtland.
Whether you are a fearless mountain explorer or a leisurely-paced hiker, you can take on this circular adventure with a little training. The route is very flexible and can be divided as you wish. The stages are between nine and 33 kilometres (5.5 and 20.5 miles) long and can be easily shortened. Starting at the Göltzschtal Bridge, the biggest brick bridge in the world, you hike through the entire Vogtland region.
Following the Köhlersteig path, you hike through the Swiss Vogtland towards Thuringian Vogtland, passing the town of Plauen in the west. You explore the legendary Burgstein region and the Pirk and Oelsnitz dams before reaching the Saxon spa towns of Bad Elster and Bad Brambach.
After a detour in the Czech Republic, you walk via Markneukirchen, Erlbach and Klingenthal to the 936-metre-high (3,070 feet) Aschberg mountain, the highest point on the trail. You follow in the footsteps of German space travel history as you arrive in Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz, the hometown of the first German in space, Sigmund Jähn. A short step later, you can enjoy a cool blonde beer in the hoppy town of Wernesgrün. Finally, you head to the towns of Rodewisch, Lengenfeld and Maylau, which has an imposing castle, before completing the circular back at Göltzschtalbrücke bridge.

Magnificent nature, wide views and two impressive bridges await you on the first stage of the Vogtland Panorama Weg. The first of these architectural masterpieces, the Göltzschtalbrücke, is right at the entrance. From here a blue and red marker will guide you uphill.
After a short time they part ways…
The second stage of the Vogtland Panorama Weg leads you from Jocketa via the Vogtland metropolis Plauen to Zwoschwitz. If you like, you can also include a detour to the mysterious Dragon Cave in Syrau. But here we want to introduce you to the main route.
In the heart of Jocketa, keep your eyes open for…

You will get to know the Vogtland from its mystical and romantic side on this stage. First through a nature reserve, then over a few spectacular viewpoints you hike from Zwoschwitz to Oelsnitz.
It starts in yesterday's destination Zwoschwitz. The Großer Weidenteich nature reserve, with its heather-like…
Nowhere will you find out more about the importance of water for the Vogtland than on this stage from Oelsnitz to Bad Elster. Always along the White Elster you march to the borderland in the south of the region, rich in springs, to your stage destination Bad Elster. But one thing at a time.
First of all…
Compared to the last few days, stage 5 will feel like a walk for you. On the total of "only" twelve and a half kilometers you dare to venture into the history of the Vogtland - and march from one spa town to the next.
Right at the beginning of the stage and depending on where you spent the night, you…
Stage 6 of the Vogtland Panorama Weg leads you around the Kapellenberg and offers you a lot of variety and some fabulous stories. Most of it runs directly on the border with the Czech Republic, this section leads you over natural forest and field paths. Half-time - and also the perfect stage to take…
One or the other architectural masterpiece awaits you on stage 7 of your Vogtland Panorama Weg adventure. In between you will find, as always, wonderful greenery and wide views. 17.5 kilometers are in front of you and bring you from Bad Brambach to Breitenfeld.
And because you definitely haven't had enough…
Depending on where you spent the night, today you will first make your way to Breitenfeld or start the tour there. In front of the Waldbad von Breitenfeld you start to climb directly uphill. And neatly, but the following piece along the Hirschmühlenteich allows you to find your breath again.
Stage 9 of your Panorama Weg adventure begins in the valley of the state community. A lot of idyllic water and some great views await you on this tour. And it starts straight away with an ascent. But it doesn't take too long. Once at the top, you hike leisurely past several small ponds in the direction…
On its final stages, the Vogtland Panorama Weg will take you high up again. But that sounds more exhausting than it really is. At least on stage 10 there are no great differences in altitude. But it is really quiet and natural here. And you can get very close to the sky and the stars if you want to…
Today you turn your back on the actual mountain landscape of the Vogtland. And yet a very specific summit - that of the Kuhberg near Schönheide - is waiting to be climbed by you. But first things first.
First you start to hike from Vogelsgrün towards the water. The Carolagrün reservoir invites you to…
Because you have earned it after all of the last few days, stage 12 means well to you again. You don't have to master 15 kilometers. But of course there is still a lot of beautiful things to discover.
The first one is only waiting a good two kilometers after the start of the tour. You can reach the Perlaser…
