Get out of the city and into nature on these five weekend adventures that help you forget the stress of everyday life. Swap urban canyons for rocky gorges, slow-moving traffic for rushing water, and leather shoes for hiking boots. Crystal clear lakes, historic paths, impressive alpine panoramas, and deep forests are waiting to be discovered by you. To make it even easier for you to explore this wild nature, we’ve selected four exceptional outdoor accommodations that serve as starting points. As they are located in remote places, you can reach them conveniently by car. So, get behind the wheel and set off on your journey – the most beautiful adventures and nature are often only a short road trip away.
Each weekend trip consists of two hikes starting directly at or very close to your accommodation. Even the journey there, which takes a maximum of four hours from Munich, takes you through beautiful landscapes.
Did you always dream of spending the night in a treehouse? Well, you can at the Seemühle in the Spessart Nature Park. Here, you hike through idyllic valleys to gushing waterfalls and an extinct volcano in the nature park. At the entrance to Franconian Switzerland, you explore impressive rock formations and rich culture. After your hike, you can relax in a cosy shepherd’s cart at the Crafts’ Yard in Höfles. On our third adventure, we show you the Bavarian mountains in all their glory. Overlooking Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze, you hike around Lake Eibsee and dive into the wild Höllentalklamm Gorge. After adventuring, you spend the night in a rustic sleeping barrel. Your fourth adventure also offers exceptional accommodation in a tipi in the Black Forest Camp. Surrounded by mighty trees, you sleep in the middle of the forest and discover the beautiful Black Forest on your hikes.
Depending on your mood you can choose the right Weekend Adventure for you and spend a few unforgettable days in nature. Pack your things in the boot and off you go!

At the entrance to Franconian Switzerland lies the rustic craftsman's farm, whose beginnings go back to the 19th century. At that time, a typical half-timbered house was built, which is now surrounded by an idyllic garden and orchards. And that's exactly where you spend the night: Surrounded by 80-year…
After a relaxing night in the cozy shepherd's car, you start directly from your accommodation in the direction of Großenoher Bach. At the skewer mill you cross the water and keep to the right to hike up to the Drei Zinnen at Großenhohe: The stone formations protrude like three long fingers and form a…
Cozy, relaxed and special: There are four sleeping barrels at the Zugspitze campsite, which on the one hand offer a camping feeling in the great outdoors and on the other hand lots of comfort and a comfortable bed. From the small terrace of your sleeping barrel, which is made of fragrant pine wood, you…
The picturesque Eibsee is just a short drive from your accommodation at the Zugspitze campsite. With a view of the steep slopes of the Wetterstein Mountains, you hike once around the shimmering lake, which is still privately owned today. Therefore, apart from the hotel, the entire lake shore is undeveloped…
Let yourself be transported back to childhood and spend the night in a teepee in the middle of the forest? You can do that at the Black Forest camp on Schluchsee, which was named Germany's most beautiful campsite by an outdoor magazine in 2018. The tipis are equipped with comfortable beds and a small…
For centuries, children, mostly young boys, have taken on the hard work of herding cattle. Far away from their families, they were out and about in wind and weather in the Black Forest and drove the herds through the landscape. The Hochschwarzwälder Shepherd's Path follows its routes along the high pastures…
