It is not possible to reinvent the paths to the Hoherodskopf, but there are always different variants that are worthwhile alternatives apart from the well-known cycle paths such as the Niddaradweg or the volcano cycle path. In the collection "From the Wetterau to the Vogelsberg" I have put together some.

Today known route to the sequoias, from there follow the hiking trail Hoherodskopfsteig to Busenborn and from there on well-known paths to Hoherodskopf.

The trail was mostly meadow or grass path and therefore a little difficult to drive.

Back through the beautiful Seenbach valley, past the Petershof, the

Every now and then to the Hoherodskopf, today a more strenuous variant via Muenzenberg to Stornfels and on and on. From Einartshausen, Betzenrod, Götzen and Rudingshain to the well-deserved rest at the Taufsteinhütte. The way back over the wonderful panorama path, view to the Spessart, to the Gederner

About the Wannkopf near Echzell and to Nidda, on to the brick hut (former country inn, drinks from the fridge today) and from there on the Bonifatius route to just before the Hoherodskopf. Back along the Nidda via Schotten to Niddastausee, then following the Niddaradweg to Ober-Schmitten, and then via

Because of the poor condition of the forest paths, the volcanic cycle path went up and for the most part down the Niddaradweg.

A nice variant is the route along the Nidda to Rudingshain and then via Götzen and Betzenrod to Schotten, with great views!

Let's go, over Steinfurth and Södel to Echzell, over the Wannkopf to Geis-Nidda and Nidda.

Past the quarry through Michelau into the forest via the brick hut and Hofgut Zwiefalten to Eschenrod and finally a stop at Busenborn.

Over the "Platte" to Michelnau (note the difference) and on to Schotten past

The goal was actually the Hoherodskopf, but during a break I forgot my drinking bottle on a pile of wood, so I went back the same way from Hartmannshain to Gedern. Drinking bottle was also collected again. In the end it was such a nice tour in the Vogelsberg, with this wonderful cycling weather.

Through fields and meadows to Echzell and over the Wannkopf to Nidda, on to Michelnau and from there finally without the annoying, violent headwind to the glider airfield below the Hoherodskopf. After a well-deserved rest at "Doro" back over the Gackerstein on a beautiful trail to Michelbach. Continue

The nice weather invites you to go on a long tour, and I'm alone at home today, so it's off to the Vogelsberg in the morning.

From the Weissmühle I take a piece of the VHC hiking trail, which proves to be difficult in places.

After Einhartshausen it is no longer drivable for a short distance - forest work

Visible from afar, the Hoherodskopf in Vogelsberg attracts me again and again. Via the "Red Mountain" and Dorn-Assenheim you get to Heegheim via Staden and from there on on the volcano cycle path.

You could continue to drive this now, but I turn off at Hirzenhain and take the beautiful route via Steinberg

On to the Hoherodskopf, in my opinion the most beautiful route in the Vogelsberg from us is the Bonifatius route.

To get on the route, you first have to cross the Wetterau, follow the Niddaradweg for a while, to Ranstadt and then along the Laisbach, up to Eckartsborn and you have reached the Bonifatiusweg

First to Wickstadt and then past Maria Sternbach in the Florstädter Forest to Stammheim.

From Stammheim you can take the Limes cycle path to Ronneburg and from there you can get to the Kinzig valley via Gründau and Lieblos.

In the Kinzig valley you pass Gelnhausen and Wächtersbach and shortly after Wächtersbach
