Deep in the south of Italy lies a fascinating, sun-drenched landscape. Majestic mountains rise between the azure Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas. The region of Calabria has four beautiful and extensive national parks where nature still thrives, largely undisturbed. In between, there are ancient villages and towns where culture has been preserved over the generations. Italian traditions are alive here, but the region is a fascinating melting pot of cultures. In addition to Italian flair, immigrants also had a strong influence on the region, such as its architecture.
Many Calabrian mountain villages can be traced back to Greek settlers. Since the 15th century or earlier, Arbëresh communities who were expelled from Albania also found a new home in the Calabrian mountains. As the area is so isolated, many ancient customs and rites have been preserved and are unique to the region. The sparsely populated landscapes are alive with pristine, wild nature, ensuring a bike Tour here leaves you with many memories. You discover orthodox monasteries and churches, quaint mountain villages and ancient cultural sites of great historical importance.
In this Collection, we would like to introduce you to the four national parks: Parco Nazionale del Pollino, Parco Nazionale della Sila, Parco Naturale Regionale delle Serre and Parco Nazionale dell'Aspromonte. Each of them has a cycle route which guides you through the impressive nature and visits imposing churches and architectural highlights that are traces of history. Every bike Tour is a fascinating journey through time.
Whether you want to go on a spiritual journey like the many pilgrims or simply enjoy the architectural and cultural features, you’ll be amazed by this region’s rich diversity.
The routes are between 34 and 55 kilometres (21 and 34 mi) long and are extremely varied. Don't underestimate the altitude gain– you'll be riding in mountainous terrain. It's not really flat anywhere here, but you'll always be rewarded with fascinating views and, last but not least, some racy descents. Since the Tours are asphalted throughout, a classic touring bike or a road bike are ideal.

It starts in the time-honored Bisignano at 350 meters above sea level. The place is best known as the bishopric. The nationally known pilgrimage…

Like many other places in this area, San Nicola da Crissa goes back to Greek settlers. You dive deeper and deeper…
From Canola Nuova, this tour goes right through the heart of the Parco Nazionale dell’Aspromonte. The landscape is traversed by bizarre rock formations, here in the sparsely populated low mountain range, wildcats and wolves roam largely undisturbed.
